The Oklahoma legislature took a first step in the last few weeks, but we must do better still. Read this article out of northwestern Arkansas to see their perspective on why so many of our public school educators are leaving right now.
Well educated children require good teachers, and any good teacher, at some point, must “do the math” for their own family, too.
We as a state need to understand this, and pay educators a better wage. Not just “so so,” but “excellent.” That’s the basis for keeping and attracting the best teachers, which in turn will give our children the best education. And this directly leads to a more prosperous future for all Oklahomans.
