Oklahoma State Supreme Court declares SQ799 invalid, strikes it from November ballot

The Oklahoma State Supreme Court ruled this morning that the veto referendum SQ799 on HB1010XX is invalid and is to be stricken from the November ballot.

Also per the Court, HB1010XX has been enacted and the contingency requirement of HB1023XX (teacher pay raise) has been met, and it will become effective on its specified date.

You can read the Court’s opinion and other case details here:

It is possible that the supporters of the veto referendum could update and re-file their referendum, but they would still only have until the original deadline of July 18 to collect all approximately 41,000 required signatures, and they would need to start over in the collection of those signatures (previous ones on the stricken referendum don’t apply to any new referendum).
